Position Summary Information

Position Accountabilities and Essential Functions

Position Accountabilities and Essential Functions:

  • Teach students to use test devices to diagnose and isolate faults, adjust, repair or replace mechanical or electrical system parts and components, perform scheduled maintenance service, maintain and repair engines and engine components and test and adjust repaired equipment for proper performance and determine repair estimates.
  • Focus on the repair and service of small gasoline and diesel-powered equipment, Briggs & Stratton – twin cylinder “L” Head and “Vanguard” V-twin OHV engines. Teach students how to set up and operate small-power equipment, inspect and test small engines and other mechanical components.
  • Deliver content using a variety of methods to meet the needs of learners. Lecture is expected to be complemented with other simulation and hands-on methods of instruction to enhance learner outcomes, including flexibility in scheduling; day, evening, and weekends to meet the needs of our adult learner population.
  • Authenticate material with on-the-job experiences and practical applications.
  • Evaluate and report student performance and progress in accordance with College and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Develop and utilize a syllabus for each course, following established departmental guidelines and course material templates.
  • Provide timely, quality access to students through electronic communication, or other appropriate method.
  • Instructors are expected to maintain a professional appearance representing Delta College at its best, and to provide positive leadership in the classroom environment and program of instruction.
Required Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional Certification and/or licensure required for teaching in related field
  • 3-5 years industry experience in related field
  • Teaching, Training, and/or Mentoring experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and aptitude to work with people at many different levels
  • Excellent and effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse population of adult learners
Additional Experiences Considered

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCES CONSIDERED:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree equivalent or higher with experience in related field
  • 5+ years industry experience in related field
  • Experience teaching adult learners
  • Experience developing programs and professional learning materials
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
